The Cherohala Skyway...
... almost 40 miles of 2-lane sweeping road that crosses between the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forest (therefore the name Chero - hala), it is without a doubt nestled between some of the best of God's handiwork. Taking 34 years to complete, and ranging in elevations between 2650 & 5400 feet, it is not uncommon to experience clouds or fog on any given day. It is absolutely beautiful.

A touch of snow still on the hills before we got there...

... And almost the same skyline (a little to the right) one of the days that we road the Skyway.

The Cherohala Skyway is a very popular attraction for car & bike clubs, and it is not unusual to be taking a break from riding in one of the turnouts, and be bomb-barded by a group of riders. The weekend we were there was a 2-stroke street bike convention - when was the last time you saw a 2-stroke on the street? Fat Boy saw bikes he hasn't seen since the 70's. That's a Kawasaki 750 Triple in front, with a RZ350 right behind it...

... And Fat Boy's guessing that's a RD350 Yamaha in orange - probably around a '74 - but don't quote him on it. His mouth is full of Skittles....

Fat Boy really liked this tricked-out Kawi Triple...it was so stripped down, no comfort features, it was basically just an engine. And from Minnesota no less.

It was a real pleasure to see the machines from 30 years ago. Living in Florida, you do not see cars and bikes from these years in everyday travels. Most of them have been turned into rust buckets. It reminded me very much of California - simply driving around, and on any given afternoon seeing all the great rods of yester-year.
One more of the Cherohala Skyway...
