We Be Toyz!
Yes - I have it bad. Me like-eee the toys. Always have I guess. But I have learned to live without them, and I now feel especially blessed that the Lord has allowed me to have another sport bike, let alone a trailer and truck to haul it around with. It certainly is nothing I have done...
And my latest adventure (Ok - my only adventure so far...) has taken me to the North Carolina/Tennessee border and Deal's Gap, a popular motorcycle resort here on the east coast. Of course, from what I've seen living in Florida, it could be the ONLY place to ride on the east coast.
The spotlight of Deal's Gap is a stretch of road on HWY 129, better known as the Tail of the Dragon. Check out the bird's eye view from 10,000 ft. I also found interesting the shape of the road as designed from an engineer's perspective.
11 miles in length, laced with 318 curves, dips & drops & transitions (making it Lions, Tigers, and Dragons - Oh my!...) mixed in the middle of left and right-hand corners. And before you go nuts not getting the "Dragon" thing, using an aerial view and a little imagination you can see how HWY 129 and the waterline form the shape:

But enough of my dribble for I know you'd rather see it in pictures. A few items of note in regards to the legal stuff before you begin:
Thanks to Killboy.com for the high quality digital pictures (like the one you see below) used throughout this journey. Killboy & his crew have the best job in the world - sit on their fannies, in beautiful country, taking pic's of everyone driving by.
Those pic's of lesser quality are courtesy of my camera - an 16 year-old item that, after this trip, I am seriously considering trading up on.

Thanks to Dan, Chris, & Tom for being able to jet to North Carolina - we all had a great time. A special thanks to Dan for coordinating the trip, and the knowledge he and Chris were able to share from last year's visit was sure helpful for those of us visiting for the first time.
So...without further ado, click the pic below to enter the Tail of the Dragon!
